At Hill Valley Academy we aim to provide a bright, stimulating learning environment and, together with parents, help each child to reach his/her maximum potential in every area of his/her growth. We pride ourselves on offering a nurturing and safe environment for the young minds in our care. Our committed and experienced team strive to meet the academic, social, emotional and physical needs of every child.

Children are actively encouraged to connect with each other and develop important social, thinking and communication skills to help them interact with their family, friends and community as well as preparing them academically for entry into Primary school. Above all, we want our Pre-primary to be a place where children are happy, confident and can begin to develop a positive attitude towards learning.

Curriculum

Pre-Primary is from age 3 to 5 (Pre -primary 1 -3). Our class sizes are small with a class teacher and assistant in each class. We believe that every child is unique and special. Our qualified and experienced staff understand the individual needs of children and provide an enriching environment that helps every child to thrive and achieve to the best of their ability.

The Pre-primary stage focusses primarily

The fabric/material for school uniform, the sports uniform and school badge MUST be purchased directly from the school. The style of the school uniform must not be altered in any way.

Except on approved or special occasions, students must wear the following regulation school uniform every day.

Pre- Primary 1,2,3 :

BOYS: White polo T-shirt, dark blue shorts, dark blue socks, black sport /school shoes

GIRLS: dark blue & white dress, badge, dark blue socks, black sport/ school shoes

*All material and badge to be purchased at school

School Hours (Pre- Primary 1,2,3 to YR 1):

These students should arrive at 8:00 AM if being dropped off. Classes start at 08:20 and school finishes for these students at 1:00 PM. Students staying for after school care can join the school bus / be collected from the aftercare classroom at 3:00 PM.

After School Care:

We offer aftercare for children wishing to remain until 3 PM.There is an additional charge for the service.

Break:

There is a 15-minute morning break for students to have a snack that they can bring from home. We encourage our students to eat healthy and balanced snacks that should include fruit and / or vegetables. Sugary drinks and sweet snacks should be kept to a minimum.

Lunch (11am – 12noon):

The school lunch menu is designed in consultation with the Parents’ Association and is included in the school fees. Pre-Primary eat their lunch in a dedicated space under constant supervision. A mixture of Western and African dishes are served.

Assembly/ Special Mentions Assembly :

Pre-Primary assemblies are conducted regularly to celebrate our core values, promote school spirit and unity.
Our student of the week assembly is the highlight of the week, with individual students commended not only for their academic performance but for good behaviour, sportsmanship, kindness, perseverance , organisation and helpfulness to name but a few.

A school bus service is offered. Alternatively, parents/guardians may opt to drop off and collect their children from school.

At Hill Valley Academy Communication between home and school is very important.

    • Parents/guardians will receive notices throughout the year about general school events, activities, special announcements and changes to our normal routine at short notice via WhatsApp.
 
    • Each class will have a dedicated WhatsApp group set up for teachers to communicate homework, tests, assessments and general information pertaining to the class as a whole. This is one-way communication only.
 
    • Teachers may make direct phone calls to parents via the Admin phone to discuss any issue of serious concern. These calls and the content of the conversation will be logged.
 
    • Parents/guardians may request an appointment with an individual teacher/s via Admin
 
  • Parents may contact / visit Admin during the working hours of 8:00 AM -4:00 PM Monday -Friday.
 
  • Parent-Teacher conferences to discuss student progress with individual teachers are held once a term.
